Freedome of Speech

Ms. Rumford, I liked the way in which you tied up history class with Blogging. Freedom of speech is a very important right people should know about. Not only because of its benefits but also because of the restrictions it has. Freedom of speech gives us the liberty to say what we believe in a respectful, and in a unprovocative way. As a bloogger this means that basically no one can stop you from writing what you believe in moderation. In real life what you say is public but not as much as in the internet. I will put it this way if you put something in the internet you can track it down. The internet is a very public place and because of  that you have to be extra careful. I believe that you as a blogger have to also go with the right of freedom of the press because you are allowed to post any information you want, but it has to be true. You as a blogger act partly as the press and partly as a regular person. As the press because you are informing others about specific topics, and publicating posts, sort of like reporting on them. As a regular person because your just doing your job to express yourself. I encourage you all to keep on blogging and now that you know about freedom of speech use it to your advantage. Always be careful because the internet is a very public place.

the internet is as a tech friend of mine pointed out a very regulated and rigid place reguardless with very real consequences that the apparent freedoms of the www and its commons are little more than a delusion

Wow you’re totally right. This made me think t hat when you say something in real life, one or some people will hear you say it and that’s it. They could spread it around, yeah, but still, only a few people really know the truth behind that statement. On the internet, anyone can see what you have written, even people you don’t know. In that way, it’s a lot more public than speech out loud. So yeah. Good post!

chompie, your post was very good, an i felt you gave your opinions very honestly. I think you should be very careful with what you write in the internet, not just because it’s public, but the way you say things when you write it, can be often misunderstood.

I totally agree about what you think. I like what you said about if you are a blogger you are the press. I had never thought of it that way, it is very interesting.

Chompie-

I agree with you that it was a great idea to connect history class wit blogging. I thought you had a great point when you said that we have to be careful with what we write in the internet because it if very public. I hadn’t thought about blogging also having freedom of press.

Great Work!!!! =)
